Reclaiming Time and Impact: How AI Supports My Work
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years—from designing creative campaigns to running community programs to coaching folks on growing their brands—it’s that time is one of our most valuable resources. For many of us who wear multiple hats, the dream has always been to do more with less: less red tape, fewer unnecessary meetings, fewer repetitive tasks that drain our energy and creativity.
That’s why completing the Artificial Intelligence and Career Empowerment Certification through the University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business hit different. It wasn’t just about learning what AI is—it was about seeing firsthand how these tools can elevate the way we work, collaborate, and build. I’ve spent years working across industries—education, marketing, UX design, hospitality—and no matter the field, the goal remains the same: work smarter, not harder.
And now? We’re here.
We’ve entered a new era of efficiency.
AI Isn’t Replacing Me—It’s Freeing Me
One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that AI is coming for our jobs. But here’s the truth: AI isn’t here to take my work—it’s here to take away the busy work. It’s here to give us time back, so we can focus on the stuff that really matters—creating, leading, connecting, and solving problems that only a human lens can truly see.
In my work supporting small businesses and creatives, AI has become that behind-the-scenes teammate that never sleeps. I’m using tools like ChatGPT to brainstorm campaigns, summarize analytics, and draft engaging captions for brands that deserve a spotlight. I’m showing clients how Canva’s AI features can help them generate design ideas faster, freeing up hours they used to spend second-guessing color palettes or spacing.
When you’ve got limited time and even tighter resources, these tools are a game-changer.
Scaling with Intention
What excites me most is what this means for the people and organizations I serve. Whether it’s working with a small business, a nonprofit, or a corporate team—AI has made it possible to expand impact without burning out.
I can help a solopreneur automate their email campaigns, support a nonprofit in crafting a data-driven yet heartfelt newsletter, or assist a corporate team in delivering more meaningful, efficient communication. I’m not replacing their voice—I’m amplifying it.
That’s the kind of progress that truly matters.
The Tools Are Here—Now What?
After wrapping up the Artificial Intelligence and Career Empowerment Certification, I’ve made it a priority to share what I’ve learned. Because knowledge should circulate, especially in our communities where we’ve had to learn to be resourceful, often with less access to tech trends or formal training.
So here’s my ask: start exploring—right where you already are. Look at the platforms you’re using every day and take a few minutes to discover their AI features. For example, if you already have a Canva account, try using it to create images or other AI-generated designs and see how it compares to outsourcing or doing everything by hand.
Set aside just 15 minutes a day to get curious. Not every feature will fit your style, but the ones that do can help you reclaim your time, sharpen your message, and show you what’s possible when you’re not buried in the to-do list.
This isn’t about doing it all yourself—it’s about working smarter and empowering others to do the same.
Closing Out the Month with Purpose
Finishing the certification wasn’t the end of a journey—it was the beginning of a shift in how I approach my work, my clients, and my creative process. I’m energized, I’m aligned, and I’m ready to continue helping folks build better—faster, easier, and with intention.
We’re not just witnessing the future of work. We’re shaping it.
Let’s make it count.
